Zlatena Theodore, Psy.D.


Dr. Theodore is a licensed psychologist (PSY29312) who specializes in providing evidence-based and culturally-responsive care to adults with mood and anxiety disorders, insomnia, chronic pain, weight management, adjustment to chronic health conditions and new diagnoses, work-related stress, life transitions, and relationship difficulties.

Dr. Theodore’s style is active and collaborative. She uses light humor and compassion to explore how one’s thoughts, emotions, and behaviors have contributed to the development and maintenance of an individual’s distress while focusing on developing a collaborative therapeutic relationship. Through a mindful, non-judgmental approach, Dr. Theodore strives to increase comfort with the therapeutic process and help individuals forge their pathway to health.

Dr. Theodore received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium in 2016. She completed her internship at the Loma Linda VA and post-doctoral fellowship at the San Francisco VA, where she specialized in Health psychology and Primary Care. Dr. Theodore’s prior work spans across diverse settings, such as community clinics, primary care clinics, Veteran hospitals, and large tech companies. Most recently, Dr. Theodore held a leadership position as a Senior Clinical Director in a mental health startup company where she oversaw the clinical care delivery within several teams and contributed to improvement of clinical quality, access, and operational efficiency.
