Fees and insurance

The fees for therapy at PAG range from $285 - $460 per session, depending on the type of treatment, session length (45-minutes vs. 60-minutes), and therapist level of training.

Licensed Clinicians:

45-Minute Therapy Session: $310 - $360

60-Minute Therapy Session: $385 - $435

Doctoral-Level Clinicians in Training (5+ years experience):

45-Minute Therapy Session: $285 - $310

60-Minute Therapy Session: $360 - $385

We also offer lower-fee treatment with our master’s level clinicians.

We are excited to be in-network with Aetna insurance plans in California. For individuals with other insurance plans, the fees are due at the time of service.

We are pleased to be in-network for clients with Aetna Insurance. Clients with Aetna can receive treatment at the in-network contracted rates, which means that clients pay only the co-pay or co-insurance determined by their Aetna plan. You’ll find more details on the Aetna insurance page, or you are welcome to contact us with questions.

While we are only in-network with Aetna insurance plans, for clients with PPO insurance plans other than Aetna, our services may be eligible for full or partial reimbursement as part of your "out of network" benefits.

In this case, clients pay for the full session fee upfront and then submit a claim to their insurance company for reimbursement following the session. To help facilitate out-of-network claims, PAG will provide you with a statement, sometimes called a superbill, which includes all of the necessary information to submit a claim to your insurance company.

To learn more about your out-of-network coverage for psychotherapy, we recommend contacting your insurance company prior to initiating therapy. Some questions to ask:

• How much coverage is available for out-of-network providers? For example, does the insurance plan reimburse for the full session or a percentage of the total fee?

• Does the insurance plan set limits on the total number of visits/sessions per calendar year?

• Do they set limits on the total amount reimbursed per session? If so, ask how much they reimburse for the following "CPT Codes", otherwise known as a procedure codes:

  • 90791 (the first intake appointment)

  • 90834 (a typical 45-minute individual psychotherapy session)

  • 90837 (an extended 60-minute individual psychotherapy session)

  • 90847 (couples or family therapy, 50 minutes)
