Lisa Choi, Psy.D.


Dr. Choi (she/her) is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY34975) who takes a straight-forward, direct, personalized approach to therapy, helping individuals break down complex issues into fundamental parts. By fostering insight into the root causes of their challenges, she empowers clients to make meaningful changes and stop repeating unhelpful patterns.

Dr. Choi specializes in helping individuals with anxious or avoidant attachment move toward secure relationships, supporting high-performing professionals in achieving optimal well-being, and guiding couples in transforming differences into strengths to build deeper, more resilient relationships. She integrates evidence-based modalities, drawing from her training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Emotion-Focused Couples Therapy (EFCT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE).

Dr. Choi is a Veterans Affairs (VA) trained licensed psychologist, who worked with veterans experiencing PTSD, anxiety, chronic and acute illness, and mood disorders during her APA-accredited doctoral internship. She previously trained at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where she provided CBT, DBT, ACT, and Cognitive Behavioral Analysis System of Psychotherapy (CBASP) to adults with complex trauma and personality disorders. Her postdoctoral training focused on couples therapy and trauma recovery. Dr. Choi earned her Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (Psy.D.) from Pepperdine University. In addition to clinical work, she has published and presented research on therapeutic interventions and promising practices to address conflict within the global majority populations.
