Kelly Showen, Psy.D.
Dr. Showen is a licensed psychologist (PSY35288) who provides evidence-based treatment to adults coping with anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder, life changes and adjustment concerns, and relationship difficulties. She integrates elements of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and relational approaches in a flexible and pragmatic manner intended to meet the client’s unique needs.
Dr. Showen’s therapeutic approach is person-centered and strives to empower clients to more effectively cope with life’s stressors through increased psychological flexibility. She is warm, authentic, and non-judgmental in her work. With an attention to both facilitating insight and teaching evidence-based skills, Dr. Showen helps clients move toward living a more rich, meaningful, and fulfilling life. She values and encourages ongoing feedback and collaboration with clients in service of their progress toward treatment goals.
Dr. Showen received her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium. She completed her doctoral internship at the Catholic University of America Counseling Center in Washington, D.C., where she provided individual and group psychotherapy to clients navigating the unique challenges and joys of young adulthood. She completed her postdoctoral fellowship at Pacific Anxiety Group, where she worked with adults navigating anxiety and mood disorders, perinatal concerns, and obsessive-compulsive disorder. Dr. Showen considers it an immense privilege to provide therapy and looks forward to welcoming you to her practice.
