Ellen Spurgeon, Psy.D.
Dr. Spurgeon (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY33605) who provides evidence based therapy to individual adults and couples. She emphasizes the importance of collaborative, client-centered care to support meaningful change. In her work with individuals, Dr. Spurgeon draws from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), and compassion-focused therapy (CFT) to support individuals who are navigating challenges related to sexual health concerns, identity development and esteem, sleep issues, and anxiety, mood, and trauma-related disorders. In her work with couples, Dr. Spurgeon utilizes emotionally focused therapy (EFT) to help couples develop greater intimacy, build connection, and improve communication.
Dr. Spurgeon received her doctorate in clinical psychology from the PGSP-Stanford Psy.D. Consortium. She completed her doctoral internship at Salt Lake City VA Health Care System, where she became a VA-certified provider of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) for PTSD and specialized in evidence-based treatments for individuals and couples. She enjoys working with folx from the LGBTQIA+ community and values the importance of intersectionality within the therapeutic process. She is passionate about creating a safe and collaborative environment from which individuals can work toward growth and healing at their own pace.
