Alex Lyon, Psy.D.
Dr. Lyon (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist (PSY33043) specializing in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders (including OCD, skin-picking disorder, and hair-pulling disorder) and other anxiety disorders (including panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, social anxiety disorder, illness anxiety disorder, somatic symptom disorder, and agoraphobia). She also has experience treating trauma-related disorders, sleep disorders, and mood disorders. Her approach to treatment is evidence-based. She primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and incorporates elements of both dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). When working with individuals with obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, she primarily uses exposure and response prevention (ERP), which is a type of cognitive behavioral therapy.
Dr. Lyon completed her doctorate in psychology (Psy.D.) at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She completed her predoctoral internship at Rogers Behavioral Health in Wisconsin, where she worked at a residential treatment center for adults with severe obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders and other anxiety disorders. She also completed rotations at a residential OCD and anxiety center for children and adolescents, as well as at a residential center for adults with eating disorders. She has received specialized training in cognitive processing therapy (CPT) and prolonged exposure (PE) for PTSD, cognitive behavioral therapy for insomnia (CBT-I), and Comprehensive Behavioral Intervention for Tics (CBIT).
Dr. Lyon’s approach to therapy is collaborative, individualized, and non-judgmental. She enjoys working with clients of all backgrounds. She is currently seeing adult clients via telehealth.
