Alex Lyon, Psy.D.
Dr. Lyon (she/her/hers) is a licensed psychologist (PSY33043) specializing in the treatment of obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders (including OCD, skin-picking disorder, and hair-pulling disorder) and other anxiety disorders (including panic disorder, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, social anxiety disorder, illness anxiety disorder, somatic symptom disorder, and agoraphobia). She also has experience treating trauma-related disorders, mood disorders, and sleep disorders. Her approach to treatment is evidence-based. She primarily utilizes cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), including exposure and response prevention (ERP) and components of dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT).
Dr. Lyon completed her doctorate in psychology (Psy.D.) in clinical psychology at Xavier University in Cincinnati, Ohio. She completed her predoctoral internship at Rogers Behavioral Health in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin, where she worked at a residential treatment center for adults with obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders and other anxiety disorders (panic disorder, health anxiety, generalized anxiety disorder, specific phobias, and social anxiety disorder). While on internship, she also completed rotations at a residential OCD and anxiety center for children and adolescents, as well as at a residential center for adults with eating disorders. In graduate school, she received specialized training in CBT for depression and anxiety disorders, ERP for OCD and other obsessive-compulsive spectrum disorders, cognitive processing therapy (CPT) for PTSD, ACT for chronic pain, and motivational interviewing for substance use disorders.
Dr. Lyon’s approach to therapy is collaborative and individualized. She strives to create a genuine, welcoming, and respectful therapeutic environment for all of her clients.
