Adeline Bortz, Psy.D.
Dr. Adeline (Addie) Bortz (she/her/hers) is a licensed clinical psychologist (PSY34667) specializing in providing evidence-based care to youth, adolescents, and young adults. She has extensive training in various outpatient and inpatient medical settings, providing psychological intervention for mood and anxiety disorders, medical trauma, adjustment to illness, treatment adherence issues, pain, and end-of-life concerns. Dr. Bortz also specializes in gender affirmative care for gender-expansive youth and their families. She utilizes an integrative therapeutic approach involving components of Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT).
Dr. Bortz earned her master’s and doctorate degrees at the PGSP-Stanford PsyD Consortium, where she trained in Stanford Children’s Health’s Pediatric Gender Clinic, Pediatric Pain Management Rehabilitation Program, and Medical Coping and Wellness Clinic. She completed her pre-doctoral internship at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) as the Pediatric Consultation-Liaison Intern, providing care to medically and psychiatrically complex youth in the inpatient hospital setting and in specialty outpatient clinics. Dr. Bortz completed her post-doctoral fellowship in pediatric psychology at the Stanford University School of Medicine, where she continued her work with medically complex youth, specifically in the areas of solid organ transplant, stem cell transplant, pediatric consultation-liaison, and oncology.
Dr. Bortz utilizes a warm and genuine therapeutic approach, guiding youth in their understanding of their emotional experiences and building self-compassion. She strives to support gender diverse youth in exploring their authentic identities, and compassionately assists families in their journey of supporting their gender expansive family member.
